Admissible Regions for Root Clustering

SHAUL GUTMAN

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology Haifa, Israel

Given A {varepsilon} Cnxn and an algebraic region A, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for the inclusion {sigma}(A) A, where {sigma}(A) is the spectrum of A. We present a general test based on the composite matrix approach. This test handles a large class of regions, including those previously treated in the literature.
