Root-Locus Invariants for Output Feedback Stabilization
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Arizona State University Tempe, Arizona 85287
In this paper, we consider the problem determining whether a single-input single-output linear system is stabilizable by scalar output feedback. In particular, we determine from the root locus a set of real invariants for the output feedback group, and demonstrate their importance in solving the stabilization problem. These invariants are related to the complete set of invariants comprised of the zeros and breakaway points, but differ from previous sets of invariants.
