In this paper we study the possibility of globally stabilizing invariant sets of autonomous continuous nonlinear systems by the state (output) feedback control law. We show that the topological structure of invariant sets can give rise to obstruction to the existence of a continuous control law for global stabilization of invariant sets.

Keywords: nonlinear dynamical systems; global stabilization; invariant sets.
